Hiya its that time again A New Challenge begins over at Paperbabe Stamps Blog
The theme is a Picture/Colour Inspiration
Here is the Picture the Design Team had for a reference
I decided to try something a little bit different to my usual makes with a Mixed Media Piece
I have used 3 Paperbabe stamp sets in this project 'Oriental Zen', 'Doll Face' and 'Fabulous Everything'
I started out with an A4 piece of Greyboard that I Upcycled from an old Sketchpad. I have a habit of using things from around my house with my craft stash as I do not like to through anything away if I can help it. Next I chose colours from my Acrylic Paint set to match the Colours in the Inspiration Photo and a few skin tones and hair colours.
I have also used a page from an old Dictionary, Joint Filler robbed from my Hubby's Shed (Shhhhh) and a few Masks that i would normally use with Inks.
I covered the whole surface first with Joint Filler and before it was set I fixed the dictionary page to the centre. Using the masks I dragged filler over them at the corners using a palette knife and lifted them off to leave the texture behind. Now I'm not a patient person so used a Heat Gun to fry the filler out so i could move to the next stage which was painting.
I marked out a circle in the middle of the Dictionary page so the words 'Beauty and Beautiful' could be seen in the centre of the circle this would become the face. Using the Doll Face set I stamped the Open Eye with lashes stamp on one side of her face and the closed lashes eye the other side. I also used the Eyelid curved shape for her closed lid and her chin. I stamped the nose stamp lower down in the centre of her face and the Full Lipped mouth stamp under the nose. once her face was stamped I painted a flesh colour acrylic over the whole face. I drew a neck and used a lighter flesh colour to paint it in.
I stamped the Double Half circle stamp from Oriental Zen around the base of the neck as a collar for her blouse. I then drew shoulders. I painted the shoulders using a few shades of paint and a sponge for a textured effect.
Once her face was dry I painted in the details of her eyes, nose, mouth, makeup and a beauty spot.
I free hand painted her hair which afterwards realised I should have drawn it with a pencil first which I will remember for next time.
The flower (from oriental zen) in her hair I stamped on a separate piece of card using black ink and then over stamped with paint and the solid stamps to fill in the colour.
The background I used a piece of foam and randomly dabbed different shades of paint around the lady and filling in over the textured areas.
The greeting (from Fabulous Everything) I first stamped the border stamp using a purple ink pad and then I stamped the word Fabulous over the top using black ink.
Once all the paint was dry I coated over the whole board using Mod-Podge. I stuck the flower and greet down using glue gel and then one more coat of med-podge over the whole board again once the glue was dry.
I hope you like my project it took some time and was way out of my comfort zone as I have not painted any figures since I was studying art at school.
Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you will visit again soon xxx
