Masquerade - Challenge - Paperbabe Stamps

Yesterday a New Challenge began over at Paperbabe Stamps Blog and its a really fun challenge - 'Masquerade' - think of masks of all kinds, even inking masks, masking techniques or actual masks

I have chose to create a Mixed Media piece with a Masquerade Mask made using stamps from the 'Folk Fabrique' set 

 I used a face template I made for use with the 'Doll Face' stamp set which is one of my absolutel faves sets and a very popular set not only on the website but at craft shows too - this template I made makes drawing faces a lot easier - this was an idea I have borrowed from Kim Costello our Captain Paperbabe.

Once the faceshape was drawn in the right place I then freehand drew her neck and shoulders.

I created the Masquerade mask using both of the 'Peacocks' from the Folk Fabrique set i set them on an acrylic block so the two heads joined together to make a mask shape, the peacock feathers created the feathers from the edges of the mask. I also stamped a few of the detail stamps from the same stamp set to create a more dramatic feather trim. I stamped the plain eye outline stamps from the 'Doll Face' set over the bodies of the Peacocks, I also used the 'Eye Lid' outline to make the eye piece of the mask a bit bigger and to join the two sides together in the middle. I stamped a few more of the detail stamps from 'Folk Fabrique' to her forehead to create details from the top of the mask.

I stamped the Iris, Pupil, Nose, Mouth Outline, Lips Solid and Beauty Spot stamps from the Doll Face stamp to created the other facial details, again I used the Eyelid outline to stamp her chin detail. I really like how these stamps can all be used together to create so many different faces - I love all the ideas the other Design Team members come up with using the Doll Face each creation is so very different.

I also created her necklace using stamps from the 'Folk Fabrique' set, The chain was made using the two longer flower stems, the pendant was made using the 'Circular Rose' from same set and one of the tiny droplet feathers to create the pendant loop.

I free hand drew her hair which was the first time ive done this and been happy completely with the result of my own idea/drawing of hair.

I coloured her mainly using Copic Markers as I love how hair turns out when I use those markers, i also coloured over the folour details using an Ash Pink colour copic - I had stamped all the details using a light coloured ink so it was easy to go over and and colour to the stamped images.

I painted the mask using mixed shades of green acrylic paint to add a bit of texture
